Present; Sir Edward Sabine, KCB in the Chair, Mr Airy, Mr Browning, Mr Burr, Mr De La Rue, Mr William Huffins, Mr Knott, Mr Lassell, Mr Lockyer, Professor Miller, Professor Peirce, Professor Pritchard, Professor GAbriesl Tokes, Colonel Strange

Minutes of 16 June meeting read and confirmed.

A detailed account of proceedings after the last meeting with the Government were given by Mr Huggins and the Astronomer Royal.

Resolved;
1. That the Lord's Commissioners of Her Majesstys Treasury should provide the means of transit for the expedition and to provide funds voted by the Royal and Royal Astronomical Societies for the propose of investigations;
2. that application be made personally by the former deputation, with Mr Lockyer;
3. Deputation to ask for ship to convey observers to and from Spain and a sum up to £3,000 for instruments, services and expenses;
4. that the Presidents of the Royal Society and Royal Astronomical Society the Astronomer Royal and Professor Stokes to be appointed as a Finance Committee;
5. that an organizing committee be appointed for the Expedition, to be the Astronomer Royal, Mr De La Rue, Mr Huggins, Mr Lockyer, Professor Pritchard, Mr Raymond, Professor Stokes, with Mr Lockyer as Secretary and Mr Ranyard as Assistant Secretary,
