Minutes of meeting of 15 June read and confirmed.

Letter of 6 August 1872 from the Admiralty giving assent of the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury to the posts and salaries as recommended by the Council fo the Royal Society read by the Secretary. Dr von Willemoes proposed to replace Dr Stirling who had withdrawn, and Admiral Richards asked to communicate this resolution to the Admiralty before formal approval by Council of the Royal Society.

New design of water bottle agreed.

Letter read from Admiralty requesting information on the objects of reserch to enable instructions be drawn up for the officer in command to meet the views of the President and Council of the Royal Society. Copies of draft track by Admiral Richards to be sent to Admiralty, and Profesor Wyville Thomson, Mr Gwyn Jeffreys, Dr Hooker, and Professor Huxley.

Agreed to print draft suggestions by Professor Wyville Thomsin, Dr Hooker and others for use of members of the committee.
