Minutes of last meeting on 15 January read and confirmed.

Reports made by Professor Stokes and Mr Lockyer concerning their contact with the Peninsular and Oriental Navigation Company regarding costs of travel and shipping of instruments, and resolution to thank the Company for their liberal arrangements and important contribution to the expedition.

Mr Lockyer reported the acceptance by Herr Vogel of the Committee's invitation, and telegram sent to Mr Reynolds

Communications received from Lord Salisbury that the Committee's letter of 15 January to be brought before the Council for India a their next meeting and copy fo a telegram sent to Viceraoy of India. Resolved a letter of thanks from the Committee be sent to Lord Salisbury.

Letter read from the Consul of Siam of 16 January 1875, and resolved the committee suggest to the Council the advisability of applying to the Admiralty to secure transport for the Eclipse observers from Singapore to Bangkok.

A telegram from Signor Cacciatore accepting the Society's invitation was read, and resolved that he be invited to take part in the expedition and instructions sent to Taccini by post to Calcutta

Resolved that a letter to be written to Messrs Brooke, Simpson and Spiller, asking to borrow Mr Friswell for three to four months as observer in the eclipse expedition to India as he is a trained observer.

Resolved that Council be requested to provide the Committee £300 for providing instruments.
