Minutes of meeting of 1 February read and confirmed, except for Mr De La Rue's Report, not yet copied.

Informed that Captain Barnes' equatorial could not be used in such a low latitude as 12 degrees or 13 degrees without alteration by a letter from Messrs Cooke & Sons.

Resolved;
Chemicals to be transported, listed and Managing Directors of the P & O Steam Navigation Company to be informed

Mr De La Rue reported on the packing of the chemicals by Mr Thomas, ordering of tents and awnings, tools and hiring of Mr Reynolds; Mr Lockyer on ordering of two cameras

Mr Lockyer authorized to purchase two cameras
Secretary of P & O Company to be informed the British observers of the Eclipse ready to sail from Southampton on 11 February and listing number of places required for them and for Dr Vogel from Venice of Brindisi.
Dr Schuster to be appointed head of the Siam party, Mr Meldola of the Indian party until meet Dr Schuster.
Mr Schuster responsible for instruments for Siam, Mr Meldola for those for India
Siam party observations to be property of the Royal Society and sent to them for discussion
Indian Government to be asked for complete set of observations taken under their auspices and sent to Royal Society so they can be compared with those from Siam
Letter of thanks to be sent to Reuters for facilities provided for early transmission to England of results of the eclipse observations of 6 April
Foreign Office to be requested to provide Dr Schuster with a letter of credentials to His Majesty the King of Siam
