Letter from F J O Evans, the Hydrographer at the Admiralty, of 29 January 1875 read, stating the Admiralty has two pendulums and a Transit Instrument. Asks if The Royal Society would lend one of theirs to the Expedition. States the Vacuum apparatus at Kew which may be required for the Base Observations is the property of the Admiralty.
Resolved; the Council to be recommended to lend one of the Astronomical clocks belonging to the Society for the use of the Arctic Expedition. |
