Read the letter with inclosure from the Treasury which led to the appointment of the Committee, and the Resolutins of the Council appointing the Committee on 15 February 1877 and enlarging it on 15 March 1877

Read two letters, one from R R W Lingen from the Treasury Chambers to the President of 16 March 1877 concerning the proper strength of the Department of the Hydrographer to the Admiralty, and the second from Robert Hall of the Admiralty of 6 March 187 7to the Secretary of the Treasury setting out the difficulties in transferring Ocean Meteorology in its entirety to the Hydrographical Department of the Admiralty.

Agreed draft of an answering letter on the part of the President and Council regarding the structure, work and remuneration of a Meteorological Council to the Treasury.
