Minutes of meeting of 16 March read and confirmed

Letter from Colonial Office of 23 March 1882 read.

' The President reported that since the last meeting he had telegraphed through the Colonial Office to Canada to ask if the Colonial Government were willing to aid the undertaking; and also had had an interview with the authorities of the Treasury. '

Telegram received from Canada they would allow 4000 dollars for the prupose. President had ' ascertained ...at the Treasury that £2500 (£1500 this year and £1000 next) would be put on the estimates as the Royal Society would be informed. '

Reply from Mr Armit of the Hudson's Bay Company that Fort Rae would be preferred reported by Mr Scott.

Resolved;
1. ' That a letter be written to the Secretary of State for War [See Letter Book, April 5, 1882, p34]
2. That a letter be written to the SDecretary of the Hudson's Bay Company [See Letter Book 5 April 1882 p. 34]
