1. Read and confirmed the minutes of the previous meeting, with an addition

2. Resolved ' that the Council be recommended to apply thei first year's income of the Hughes Medal Fund to the cost of preparing the design and dies for the medal and that the first award of the medal be made in 1902.

3. The names of several artists haeing been mentioned to the Committee, it was agreed that Mr W R Colton, Mr de Saulles and Mrs Bernard Jenkin be asked if they would (1) state their terms for furnishing a design for the medal, to be approved by the Committee, and (2) the inclusive cost of such a design and of the prepartion of the dies under their supervision; their replies to be laid before the Committee at its next meeting. Profesxor Carey Foster was at the same time requested to make the same enquiry of Mr J H M Furse. '
