Describes Committee business including a letter from William G Maton stating Mr Brown's withdrawl from the committee and recommending as Prize Question, 'Is it demonstrable by any facts or experiments, that electricity is a necessary part in the performance of any functions of organised beings'? -- question suggestions from William Philip and Dr Prout -- the resolution to recommend A R de Candolle for the Medal, for his work on 'vegetable physiology' -- an agreement that defining future awards through a Prize Question would defeat the point, and recommending, if a question must be chosen, 'the laws by which the functions of the different Organs belonging to the Animal System are associated with each other'. p40-42. |
