DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Francis Baily; Captain Francis Beaufort; Marc Isambard Brunel; John George Children; William Clift; Joseph Henry Green; Charles Konig; John William Lubbock; William George Maton; Roderick Murchison; William Hasledine Pepys; Peter Mark Roget; Reverend Richard Sheepshanks; the President, His Royal Highness [Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex] in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Dr. Philip asked leave to publish his last six papers from Philosophical Transactions, granted. A gratuity of £10 awarded to Mrs. Coppard, for the year. Mr. Hudson applied for leave, granted. The Treasurer had received a letter from Mr. Repsold, declining any remuneration for the pendulum apparatus. All Library books to be returned by 1 August and the Library closed until 1 September. Mr. Hudson to report on non-returned books at August Council. Copies of the first two indexes to the Transactions to be given to the President. Award of medals to be published in the Transactions. Letter from Mr. Towneley explaining his omission of his annual subscription and asking to be re-elected, request granted. Bill of £58 6s. 8d., from Mr. Gyde for the Abstracts to be paid. Repeal of two words from Section V of the Statutes to be proposed. Application from Mr. Thomas Taylor for the Greenwich Observations of 1807, granted. Observations of Tides at Portsmouth and Plymouth to be printed. Mr. Dessiou to be given a gratuity of £5 for superintending publication of tidal observations. Foreign Membership diplomas were sealed and signed by President and Council.
