Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Letter from the Reverend William Whewell, Trinity College, Cambridge, 7 May 1839, to the Chairman of Council of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes: objecting to an element of the report of the Meteorological Committee read at last Council, relating to the height of the cistern in barometers and spring tides. Copies of the Library Catalogue to be presented to Mr. Bethune and to Mr. Few. Resolved that a committee be appointed to draw up a set of forms for certificates for candidates and to make other recommendations, the committee to consist of all members of Council. |
