Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Resolved that the future services of William Shuckard be dispensed with, with a gratuity of £25. Mr. Pepys requested 60 copies of his paper and Dr. Farre requested 25 copies of his, the requests granted. Resolved that one Royal Medal be presented to James David Forbes for his paper on the extinction of solar rays passing through the atmosphere. The Committee of Mineralogy and Geology reported no paper worthy of a Royal Medal in the publishing cycle to 1843; resolved to award the second Royal Medal to Charles Wheatstone for his paper on constants of a voltaic circuit. Resolved that the Copley Medal be presented to M. Jean Baptiste Dumas for researches in organic chemistry. The President to inform Sir Henry Wheatley of the Royal Medal decisions for the approval of the Queen. List of salaries for Officers and staff, and bills to be paid.
