Commencing with a list of Council members present: Dr. John Bostock; William Bowman; Reverend Dr. William Buckland; Sir William Burnett; Samuel Hunter Christie; John Frederic Daniell; George Dollond; Sir John William Lubbock; Roderick Murchison; Richard Owen; Peter Mark Roget; Dr. John Forbes Royle; Dr. William Sharpey; the President, Spencer Joshua Alwyn Compton, 2nd Marquess of Northampton, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Dr. Buckland made and subscribed to the declaration in lieu of the oath.

Mr. Daniell was taken ill suddenly. Prompt medical aid was given, but he died within minutes. The President proposed an immediate adjournment.
