Among matters discussed or noted: new Council Members were sworn in and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Report of the Finance Committee was read, full text entered into the minutes: on potential savings to be made in the Society's activities to meet the current deficit in accounts, and on the investment of sums received in composition of Fellows' annual fees. Mr. Hudson reported an error in the estimate of costs for printing the Meteorological Journal. Mr. J. F. Palmer of Golden Square applied to take impressions from the plates of John Hunter's papers, granted. The Treasurer's reading to be added to the Statement of Accounts, printed and circulated to Fellows. Mr. Stratford applied for volumes of Dr. Maskelyne's observations for use in the Nautical Almanac Library, granted.
