Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Davies Gilbert was sworn in as a member of Council. Michael Faraday presented a report on the weights of the pieces of platinum and palladium left to the Society by William Hyde Wollaston. Copies of Philosophical Transactions to be given to the Geological Society of France. Letter from Mr. J. F. Palmer requesting permission to take extracts from Mr. Hunter's correspondence and lectures, granted. Letter from Messrs. Karslake and Crealock asking for the Society's consent in routing the London and Windsor Railway through land at Acton: with a letter from the Society's solicitor, Mr. Few, noting the former application from the Great Western Railway Board and recommending further inquiries, adopted. Application from Mr. Reeves, now in Chiina, for an extension of time for admisison to the Fellowship, granted. The word 'ten' replaced by 'five' in Section III Chapter I of the Statutes. |
