Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Letter from C. W. Dilke, The Athenaeum, 2 Catherine Street, 3 July 1834, to the Secretaries of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes: on hearing of the Society's intention to cease publication of meteorological observations, offers to publish them exclusively in the Athenaeum journal as a service to science; this in the uniform format, so as to be capable of bound into the Philosophical Transactions, with no cost to the Royal Society, the arrangement to be adopted. Mr. Hudson applied for six weeks' leave, granted. Leave of three weeks to be granted to Mr. Roberton, at a convenient time. The arrangement of maps to be referred to the Library Committee. Lord Adare's statement of an accident preventing him from attending the Society, in consequence the period for his admission to the Fellowship to be extended. Payment of £50 to Mr. Bailliere. Treasurer to make a remittance to Mr, Schumacher, for his trouble in superintending the construction of the Society's barometer. Notice given to the Society of a portion of their Coleman Street property to be given up towards improvements to the City. The date of 11 December selected for enactment of the Statute revision. |
