DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Dr. John Bostock; John George Children; Samuel Hunter Christie; William Willoughby Cole, Viscount Cole; Charles Konig; Dr. John Lindley; William Haseldine Pepys; Peter Mark Roget; Captain William Henry Smyth; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Form of declaration in lieu of the oath to be made by Members of Council, full text entered into the minutes. Appointment of auditors of the Treasurer's accounts. The British Association for the Advancement of Science had offered manuscript documents relating to observations of the tides, accepted into the archives. List of bills ordered to be paid for printing and other expenses.
