Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Report of the auditors of the Treasurer's accounts. With regard to Captain J.H. Lefroy's appeal for journals to be sent to the Canadian Institute of Toronto, it should be placed on the list of oganisations to which the Proceedings are presented; if the Institute wished to purchase the Philosophical Transactions at a lower rate, Officers recommend the purchase of volumes five years after publication for one-third of the original price. Report of the Committee on the Winteringham Bequest, full text entered into the minutes: application of the Fund according to the trusts of the will of Sir Clifton Winteringham is inexpedient; it would be advisable to submit to the Charity Commissioners a scheme for alteration, to promote the interests of science; the committee were requested to take the necessary steps. Report of the Government Grant Committee, with a list of applications received and read, and grants authorised; the report was received and the grants confirmed. Resolved that grant recipients in the years 1850-1851 should produce a statement of results of progress and an account of expenditure, so that Council might state the results to H.M. Government if required to do so. Application from Lord Harrowby for an extension of time for admission into the Fellowship, granted.
