Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Resolved that at the time of nomination, Lord Wrottesley would be recommended to the Royal Society as President. Resolved, on the motion of Colonel Sabine, seconded by Mr. Bence Jones, that it would be recommended to the Parliamentary Committee to promote the application made to Government to house the scientific societies of the metropolis in a central and convenient locality. Thomas Graham was appointed as the Bakerian Lecturer for the present session. Resolved that the practice of the Society accepting sealed packets on deposit should be discontinued. The application by Warren De La Rue and Henry Bence Jones that members of the Chemical Society should be supplied with Proceedings for the sum of £20 was referred to the Officers to report on. |
