| Description | Printed minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.
Commencing with a list of Council members present: William Brande; Sir Henry De La Beche; Samuel Hunter Christie; Edward Forbes; Thomas Galloway; Sir William Robert Grove; William Hopkins; Dr Peter Roget; Lieutenant Colonel Edward Sabine; Lieutenant Colonel Edward Sabine; Lieutenant Colonel William Henry Sykes; Charles Wheatstone; the President [Spencer Compton] Marquis of Northampton in the chair.
Among matters discussed or noted: the report of the committee for preparting the draft of statutes relating to amendments of election to the Fellowship (report transcribed in full in minutes, with wording for 16 statutes that make up the statute chapter one 'of the election and admission of Fellows'). A further amended draft of chapter one, made up of 29 agreed statutes, is also fully transcribed along with statute chapter three 'of the payments to be made by the Fellows to the Society', chapter five 'of the causes and forms of ejection', chapter six 'of the election of the Council and Officers', and chapter eleven 'of the meetings of the Society'. Letter from Charles Brooke appyling for funds to construct improved apparatus to automatically make a continuous record of the variations of magnetic instruments (letter transcibed in full), in response to which the Council grant £50 from the Donation Fund.
