The President reported giving parts of the Philosophical Transactions to Captain Belavenitz of the Russian Imperial Navy, who is charged with a commission on compass observations. Letter from Professor Agassiz expressing thanks for the award of the Copley Medal. The nomination of MM. Cesar Mansuete Despretz, Frans Ernst Neumann and Ernst Heinrich Weber as Foreign Members confirmed by ballot. Lists of names of candidates for the award of Royal Society Medals, to be proposed and seconded at the next meeting. The corporate seal of the Royal Society was affixed to a power of attorney to enable the Society's bankers to receive dividends. £50 from the Donation Fund to be awarded to William Crookes for researches on thallium.
