TitleDeed establishing the Sackler Resource

DescriptionParties are;
1. Raymond R Sackler KBE MD, Richard S Sackler MD, Jonathon D Sackler, Christopher Benbow Mitchell, Ronald Brown Miller, Paul Manners and Raymond Michael Smith the Trustees for the time being of the Raymond and Beverly Sackler Foundation ...of 15 North Audley Street, London W1Y 1WE and
2. The Royal Society 6 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AG
Whereas
1. The Society desires to develop that part of its archive relating to the lives of its Fellows (the 'Resource') as part of the Society's Project Science campaign
2. The Society desires to arrange for the contribution of funds for the Resource
3. The Foundation Trustees have agreed to contribute the amount specified herein to found the Resource
and both Society and Foundation are registered charities, now;
Foundation Trustees to provide £275,000
Society will apply the Fund solely for the purpose of founding the Resource in which will be collated and digitised that part of the archive of the Society relating to the lives of the Fellows so that it may more readily be accessed by and available to historians of science and other scholars world wide (as further described in schedule)
The Resource shall be named in perpetuity 'The Raymond and Beverly Sackler Archive Resource of the Royal Society', and the Society will use such designation in all publications, written statements or announcements relating to the Resource. A placque or other appropriate sign carrying such designation shall be affixed in a suitable location at the Society, the design and recommendaed location of which shall be approved by the Foundation Trustees.
SCHEDULE states the Resource is intended to provide easy access to scholars and others to biographical information about the Fellows and Foreign Members of the Society and unsuccessful candidates for Fellowship. The information will be held in a text database with associated digitised images. Initially it will be made available on the Internet and subsequently it may be published in other electronic or print form.
