This Gentleman who is well known for his Learning in Mathematicks and Astronomy & who lately communicated to the Society an ingenious dissertation on the Moons Atmosphere being desirous of the honour of becoming a Member thereof is recommended in the following manner by the under written Members of Royal Society residing at Paris
We the under written Members of the Royal Society certify that Mr de Fouchy is our fellow Member of the Royal Academy of Sciences in the Class of Astronomy; and that he hath therein distinguisht himself by the excellent works he has given in that Science; in Testimony whereof we have Signed the present Certificate, at Paris Wednesday March 2d 1740 NS
and in concurrence with the above mentioned members we recommend the Said Gentleman as a person deserving the honour he desires & as one who will be a usefull correspondent.
