Citation | Mark Foscarini, a noble Venetian, knight of the golden Stole, Procurator of Saint Mark, Historiographer of the Republic of Venice, one of the Reformators of the University of Padua, and Ambassador extraordinary at the Court of Rome, being desirous of the honour of becoming a Fellow of this Society : We , whose names are under-written, do recommend him asa Nobleman of distinguished learning and merit, as fully appears in a work of his lately published in folio, intituled = Della Letteratura Veneziana libri otto, Volume primo = a copy of which has been presented by him to this Society, a great Incourager of the liberal Sciences, and remarkably obliging to English Gentlemen in their travells through the Venetian State |
