Author of (1) Die Fische des Neckars, 1853: (2) Handbuch der medicinishen Zoologie 1837 - (3) Catalogue of Colubrine Snakes (1858): (4) Catalogue of Batrachia Salientia (1858): (5) Catalogue of Fishes in the British Museum, six vols (1859-66) - the most recent standard work upon this class of animals: (6) The Reptiles of British India, published by the Ray Society (1864); and numerous papers and memoirs in the Zoological Society's "Proceedings", "Annals of Natural History" &c. Originator and Editor of the "Record of Zoological Literature" commenced in 1865, for which he also prepares reports on the Mammals, Reptiles, and Fishes. |
