Author of (1) The Croonian Lecture for the year 1876 "On the Locomotor System of Medusae, published in the Phil Transactions (2) "Further Observations" on the same subject, recently communicated to the Royal Society (3) a Paper "On the Voltaic Excitation of Nerve & Muscle" published in the Proceedings May 4th 1876 (4) A further Paper on the same subject, recently communicated to the Royal Society (5) "An account of some new species, varieties and monstrous forms of Medusae", Journ of the Linnaean Soc Vol 12 1875 (6) A second paper on the same subject communicated to the Linnean Society (7) The following contributions to "Nature" containing original observations viz On Perception in the Lower Animals, Vol VII, On permanent variation of colour in Fish, vol VIII, On collective instinct, On natural selection & dysteteology, On rudimentary organs, vol IX, On disuse as a reducing cause in Species, On care of rabbits for their dead, On rainbows vol x, On instinct and acquisition, vol XI and (8) an Article "on Conscience in animals" (Quart Journ of Science April 1876) and several other Essays of note on Psychological Subjects, distinguished for his acquaintance with and attachment to the Sciences of Physiology and Zoology. |
