Deputy Professor of Geology, Leeds, 1882, Birmingham, 1883-1884, Oxford, 1888. Secretary of the Geological Society, 1897 to present time. Awarded the Wollaston Fund by the Council of the Geological Society, 1895. President of section C of the British Association 1903. Author of the following and many other papers on geological subjects: - 'The Igneous and Associated Rocks of the Breidden Hills' (Quart Journ Geol Soc, 1885); 'The Corndon Laccolite' (Rep Brit Assoc, 1886); 'The Geology of the Long Mountain' (ibid, 1890); 'Guide to the Rocks and Fossils in the Collection of the Geological Survey in Ireland, 1895,' in conjunction with Mr McHenry; 'Charnwood Forest, a buried Triassic Landscape' (Geogr Journal, 1903). Part Author of several Geological Survey Memoirs. |
