Citation | Professor of Chemistry in the Pharmaceutical Society. Ex-Berkeley Fellow of the Owens College, and late lecturer in Chemistry at St Thomas' Hospital. Distinguished for his researches in organic chemistry. Author of the following papers among others: - 'Some derivatives of Dimethyl-dihydroresorcinol' (Journ Chem Soc, 1899); 'The Interaction of Ethylic-sodio-malonate and Mesityloxide' (ibid, 1899, 1900, 1901); 'Preparation and properties of 2:6-Diketo-4-isopropyl-hexamethylene' (ibid, 1901); 'Preparation and properties of 4-Isopropyl-dihydroresorcin' (ibid, 1902); 'The action of Phosphorous Haloids on dihydroresorcins' (ibid, 1903); 'Aromatic Compounds obtained from the Hydroaromatic Series' (ibid, 1904); '1:3-Dihydrobenzene' (ibid, 1904). Joint author of the following papers, with Prof Perkin: 'Substituted Pimelic Acids' (Journ Chem Soc, 1894); 'Decomposition of Camphoric Acid by Fusion with Potash' (ibid, 1898). With Prof Emil Fischer: 'Oxidation of Saccharic and Mucic Acids.' With Prof A Schuster: 'Electrolysis of Silver Nitrate 'in vacuo'' (Phil Mag). |
