Distinguished for his original researches in Pathology, Bacteriology, Protozoology and Insects in relation to Disease, embodied in 36 publications which have appeared since 1902. Papers: - Four important papers on 'Diphtheria' (vide Journ Hyg, 1902, 1905, 1906), &c (ibid); 'The Biological or Precipitin Test for Blood considered mainly from its Medico-legal Aspects' (ibid), (Part I with F Sanger); 'Blood Relationship amongst the Lower Vertebrata and Arthropoda,' &c (included in Nuttall's 'Blood Immunity,' &c); 'A New Species of Parasite found in the Red Blood Corpuscles of Moles' (Journ Hyg, 1906); 'A Cystic Disease of . . . . . 'Psittacus undulatus', due to a Protozoan Parasite' (ibid); 'Swollen Head in Turkeys' (Journ Agric Sci); Section iv being pp 122-448 of 'The Bacteriology of Diphtheria' (edited by Nuttall and Graham-Smith) includes much original work by the latter alone. Five papers on Piroplasmosis (Journ Hyg with Nuttall); 'The Division and Post-fission Movements of Bacteria (Repts to Local Gov Board); 'The Anatomy and Functions of the Oral Sucker of the Blow Fly' (Journ Hyg); 'The Passage of Bacteria from the Mouth to the Lung' (Proc Camb Phil Soc) (with L Cobbett); 'Non-lactose Fermenters in Flies,' &c (Repts to Local Gov Board); 'The Possibility of Pathogenic Micro-organisms being taken up by the Larva and subsequently Distributed by the Fly' (ibid); 'Flies in Relation to Disease - Non-bloodsucking Flies' (2nd edit, 1914) includes much original work.
