Title | Adrian, Edgar Douglas, 1st Baron Adrian of Cambridge: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Date stamp on reverse |
Citation | Dr Adrian's investigations have gone a long way to determine the nature of the change occurring in setting up a state of excitation in nerve, skeletal muscle and cardiac muscle, and in the conduction of the state of excitation. Especially important are his investigations on the process of recovery in nerve after setting up a nerve impulse, and the definite evidence he gives that the 'all or none' law holds for motor nerves, and (with Prof Forbes) that it holds also for sensory nerves. His work ic characterised by ingenuity in method, experimental skill, and great accuracy in delicate measurements. |
