| Title | Andrewes, Christopher Howard: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
| Description | Citation typed |
| Citation | Distinguished for his discoveries in connection with virus diseases, he was one of the workers who first transmitted human influenza virus to ferrets and mice; also for his studies on the mode of action of anti-viral sera and antiphage sera, with Elford he showed that anti-sera inactivated phage according to a percentage law. Though some of this work was joint work, he has investigated independently the properties of immune sera active against fowl tumour viruses and obtained very interesting results. |
