Citation | Has devoted her whole time to research for more than forty years and has published four books of major importance and more than seventy papers (eight during the last five years). Is still engaged in active research and has in preparation a general book on plant morphology embodying the broad conclusions reached during her detailed work. A large part of her research concerns the Monocotyledons (especially the grasses), to our Knowledge of whose morphology she has contributed more than any other recent investigation. Of theoretical contributions her papers on the laws of loss and irreversibility in evolution and her acute criticisms of certain modern theories are outstanding. Her work is marked by a combination of exact observation, penetrating judgment, profound scholarship and artistic skill. (Full list of publications annexed) |
