Citation | Distinguished for his work on radioactivity, including participation in the first studies of branching radioactive disintegration, the large angle scattering of a particles which led to the discovery of the nucleus, and early work on long range hydrogen particles, and many other problems. Later became Director of Scientific Developments in the Dominion of New Zealand and has been largely responsible for the direction of the Dominion's scientific work in both peace and war. |
