CitationDistinguished for work in physiology and pharmacology. She showed that it is possible to estimate the amount of cortical hormone in adrenal venous blood, and discovered the effect of adrenaline and of various other factors on the output of this hormone. She has also contributed to our knowledge of the nervous control of the pituitary gland, of hypertension of renal origin, of the distribution of drugs, and later of choline acetylase, in the central nervous system, of neuromuscular transmission in voluntary muscle, of the release of potassium in a sympathetic ganglion, and of methods of estimating adrenaline in blood.
