Title | Gregory, Philip Herries: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Certificate of Election |
Citation | Distinguished for his work on the epidemiology of plant disease, and for notable contributions to medical mycology, more particularly with regard to the different spore types of dematophytes. His researches on diseases of bulbous plants, and later on the spread of virus diseases among crops, have led to a comprehensive aerobiological study, with special reference to the factors which affect spore transport and deposition. He has developed new methods whereby spores and other small particles in the atmosphere can be assayed accurately and is actively engaged in studying the principles of dispersion of pathogenic fungi and air-borne allergens. All his work is characterized by a highly original approach and by its completeness. About 50 published papers. |
