Title | Pashley, Donald William: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | After distinguished work on epitaxial growth using electron diffraction, Dr. Pashley did pioneer work on the use of electron microscope Moire patterns to determine relative spacings on epitaxial sandwiches, and to study dislocations in these films. His electonmicroscopic study of the copper-gold system is an outstanding contribution to our knowledge of antiphase domains in alloys. The recent investigations of Dr. Pashley and his co-workers on the growth of thin films, formed by vapour deposition in the electron microscope, have shown, for the first time, what actually happens in the initial stages of the formation of a thin film. |
