Title | Rosenbrock, Howard Harry: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Date | 1971 |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Professor Rosenbrock was one of the first to apply control theory successfully to practical problems of vibration, flutter and control of turbines and also one of the very first to use computers in the design of industrial plant. He developed hill-climbing techniques which bear his name and which are still in use for the optimisation of both the design and control of industrial plant. Having built up research laboratories for Constructors John Brown he joined the Control Group at Cambridge in 1962 in order to be able to give more time to his research in control theory and the computer-aided design of multivariable control systems, in which fields he is recognised as a leading authority internationally. |
