| Citation | Professor Price is an authority on the behaviour of ships in waves. He has published a large number of papers and two books; his work is highly original and covers all aspects of ship dynamics, showing how advances in structural dynamics, computing, naval hydrodynamics, statistics and physical oceanography may be employed in practical naval architecture. His work is gradually transforming this branch of technology.
The value of the candidate's work is acknowledged world-wide. His programs and techniques are in used by MOD for HM ships; his books have been widely translated, e.g. into Chinese and Japanese; while still in his thirties, he has been invited abroad as a visiting professor in the Netherlands, France, Sweden, China, Norway. Although the candidate is still comparatively young, his accomplishments are substantial. |
