Citation | Keith Beven has made major contributions to hydrological science in the areas of understanding of field processes, hydrological modelling, water quality, and particularly in furthering the understanding of uncertainties in the application of environmental models in general. He has pioneered the application of finite element modelling to hill slope hydrology, understanding the key role of soils and rainfall-runoff models. He developed new methods to characterise uncertainties in environmental systems models. His work has had many practical applications including major contributions to water quality management. He is the most highly cited hydrologist in the world. |
