TitleElliott, Timothy Richard: certificate of election to the Royal Society
Date4 May 2017
DescriptionCertificate of candidate for election
CitationTim Elliott is distinguished for his use of geochemical analyses, principally isotopic measurements, to investigate the evolution of terrestrial planets. He has focused particularly on the history of Earth’s mantle carried in melts erupted at the surface and has led the use of U-series analyses to yield novel constraints on melting processes. His work has elucidated the impact of the surface cycling of elements and their isotopes on the compositions of Earth's interior and of eruptive products. He has placed important constraints on timing of events in the earliest solar system and the influence of pre-solar material on planetary compositions.
