Citation | Neville’s research theme is the understanding and design of functional surfaces. Her fundamental investigations cover bio-inspired surface science, electrochemistry and nano-science in the fields of erosion-corrosion of metals, biotribocorrosion in medical implants and developments of functional surfaces in tribochemistry. In each area she has developed new and often in-situ techniques for observing surfaces. These studies have led to wide-ranging engineering applications in the oil and gas industry, in new lubricants driven by legislation on emission targets, in hip replacement surgery and in the development of surgical technologies. |
