TitleRidley, Anne: certificate of election to the Royal Society
Date4 May 2017
DescriptionCertificate of candidate for election
CitationAnne Ridley is a world leader in cell migration research, and is recognised internationally for showing that Rho family GTPases are key coordinators of the actin cytoskeleton and cell migration in mammalian cells. Her work has made important contributions to our understanding of cancer progression and inflammation. For example, she has delineated the roles of different Rho GTPases during cancer and leukocyte transendothelial migration. She also defined distinct functions for closely-related proteins in cell migration and proliferation, including different phosphoinositide 3-kinases and Rho GTPases. She recently identified a new way of regulating GTPases through phosphorylation, leading to 14-3-3-mediated inhibition.
