CitationNigel Shadbolt has made significant contributions to Computer Science, including Knowledge Engineering, the Semantic Web, Web Science, Open Data and Computational Neuroscience. His research into, and promotion of, Open Data has been particularly important. Since 2008 Shadbolt has been central to the development and practical implementation of Open Data policy. Shadbolt helped establish the UK as world-leading in this area. Alongside his Oxford appointments, he is Chairman and Co-Founder of the globally recognised Open Data Institute. A tireless advocate of Computer Science, he has provided advice and guidance across Government; he has shaped policy and has undertaken important reviews.
