CitationRoger Goody is a leading pioneer in applications of chemical and physicochemical methods to study biological systems. He was first to synthesize thiophosphate analogues of ATP and GTP and apply them in biochemical and biophysical studies, including kinetics, and structural and cellular biology. This unique and powerful combination has allowed him to unravel biological mechanisms of fundamental importance, leading to major breakthroughs by him and others in muscle contraction, HIV, oncogenic G proteins and vesicle transport.
