CitationLaureate Professor Graeme Jameson is distinguished for his contributions to mineral processing, particularly for the science and technology of the froth flotation process for separating valuable minerals from ores. Following a period of fundamental research into the reasons for the slow recovery of very small particles, he developed a radical new flotation machine known as the Jameson Cell. A total of over 300 of these Cells has been installed in over 25 countries. The value of exports of fine coal and minerals to the Australian economy now exceeds AUD 36 billion, and grows by over AUD 2 billion a year.
