Citation | Butler Lampson was a leader of the Alto project, the first recognisable modern networked personal computer, which pioneered the windows, icons, mice, pointers and graphics used on most computers and phones today, as well as print and file servers. He made major contributions to word processing, laser printing, networking, security, programming languages, and tablet computers. His many contributions have been recognised by the ACM Turing Award, the IEEE Computer Pioneer award, the IEEE von Neumann Medal, and the National Academy of Engineering's Draper Prize. |
