Citation | Aled Edwards is a pioneer in open science and drug discovery. He founded and leads the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC), and has contributed nearly 5000 entries into the Protein Data Bank, accounting for ~10% of all experimentally determined human protein structures. He led a movement to conceptualize new chemical probes as publicly available tools, and launched SGC projects to create new ‘open source’ chemical probes. These probes are widely recognised for their quality, have been distributed over 50,000 times, cited in >12,000 papers and used to generate therapeutic hypotheses now being tested in >80 clinical trials. |
