Citation | Anjali Goswami has reframed our understanding of the evolution of vertebrate morphology through explorations of modularity in the skull and skeleton. To achieve this new understanding, her work is integrative and interdisciplinary, combining data from embryos, juveniles, adults, fossils to understand and reconstruct organismal evolution at an unprecedented scale. Her work has driven the recent expansion of studies of phenotypic modularity, originally grounded in quantitative genetics, into the realm of deep time. In doing so, her work consistently pushes the frontiers of quantitative morphology and has transformed the study of phenotypic evolution and modularity over the past two decades. |
