| Citation | Ridgway has made seminal contributions to advanced manufacturing technologies including machining and water jet cutting. He established and led the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre which has trained the next generation of advanced manufacturing engineers, brought inward investment and economic growth, and informed Government policy. He is a member of the PM’s Council for Science and Technology, Chairs Industry Wales and is a member of the Scottish Senior Leadership Group for Manufacturing. In 2019 he joined the University of Strathclyde, establishing the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, catalyzing a new Innovation District in Glasgow. He has received many accolades including OBE (2005), CBE (2012) and Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He is a leading innovator in engineering in the UK. |
