CitationProf. Rene Bernards is internationally known as an outstanding innovative and leading scientist. He is and will continue to be at the forefront of innovative cancer research with the goal of delivering patient benefit. To date, his fundamental discovery research has already resulted in two ground-breaking discoveries and successful practice changing clinical trials and for the treatment of breast and gastro-intestinal cancers. His accolades such as being elected an international honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2019, and international member of The National Academy of Sciences in 2020 are testament to his notable and lasting impact within the scientific community around the world.
